I guess I'm somewhat of an audiophile now and what I've noticed is that audio is a world of diminishing returns. Around the 1970s they really figured out audio and learned how to make it good - and when audio is good it stays good. You can keep trying to improve the sound and quality but eventually you get to a point where you cant even hear the differences.

Well this is the case with my 2007 Ranger. To me it always sounded great - Pioneer really knew how to make good audio and having the surround speakers with the subwoofer right in the middle was really good. Well awhile ago I bought a 2016 Hellcat with like harmon kardon whatever audio and a dual 900w subwoofer in the trunk - and despite all my tuning it sounds like crap. The bass is overkill and the speakers dont really sound that good. Whenever I get back in my Ranger I realize how good of a job they did and how well balanced it is. I always thought about upgrading my Rangers audio but man - its hard to beat the sound right now.
The only downside is my cd player broke so I cant use CDs anymore.

Never been in a Hellcat, but is there a built in equalizer anywhere in there that you could manipulate until you got a better sound. My Santa Fe has those settings buried pretty deep into the system, but I found it and adjusted that system until it sounded good. I would like to assume that a 2016 Hellcat has better tech than a 2019 base model Hyundai.:icon_idea:

More skinny pedal...

Seriously though... I've just never got into high end audio. Maybe I'm missing out?

IMO A clean, crisp stereo is obsolete in a muscle car. What's the point of having a clear stereo AND a rumbling V8 & loud exhaust pipes. One cancels the other one out. UNLESS you have one of those cars that play fake exhaust notes through the speakers.

I put some speakers and amp in mine with the stock head unit. Besides the bass, it's comparable to my friends 2017 Silverado quality wise.

The best bang for the buck I’ve found has been replacing the crappy factory speakers with a decent set of aftermarket ones.

That has always been good enough for me but, like Uncle Gump, I’ve not been a big audiophile.

It's a weird world but once you get a taste of some really good stuff it's hard to go back.
And with modern technology its so easy to get a super high end setup for not a lot of money.

I carry essentially a Ipod on crack with me when I'm on trips and doing my walk-around of the jet so I don't get my ears blown out by the APU. And I get to enjoy really good music while I'm doing it.

The big issue is that it's a dual 900w in the trunk - the worse place for it. Instead of being balanced in the center is just shakes the car - even cranked down a lot.

But my exhaust is even louder so it kinda offsets it.
