Hey all... just checking to see if anyone has actually completed a custom line for the clutch master cylinder to the slave?

i swapped in an M5R1 from my a4ld... and i used the plastic hardline... i dont honestly like the way it fits so i was wanting to see about a stainless flexible line or the like...

anyone know of fittings or what the specific fittings are called or maybe part numbers?

so that way i can just take the fittings if need be to a hydraulic shop and tell them i need it so long in length, rather than taking the line off the truck and all that, that goes with bringing the actual line to a shop...

or maybe i can even do it myself if i can find a good set of fittings and a good flexible line...

thank you all!

I did it, i took the original fittings, and had the push-lock nipples cut off, stainless steel JIC fittings ("AN" to the layperson) welded to them, then had a custom length of braided brake line with corresponding JIC fittings made

brake hose is spendy, it was like $50.00 for the hose alone, because it was some "D.O.T. approved" special coated, braided hose.

tax and everything with fittings, and the $10/weld labor i was like $70.00

thats still not bad... did you just use a stock line you had laying around and take the fittings off of it?

if thats the case, i may hit the junk yard once again and get the fittings for a spare set.

yeah, just used the 2 fittings that pressed into the hard line, the guys at the hose-shop just cut the barbed nipples off, and welded stainless JIC fittings where the nipples were

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
Check out Russell part numbers:

640281... To convert to JIC #3.
641001... To convert to JIC #4.

Sorry about the half-assed post, but I'm on my phone.

^ i came across those, but wasnt completely sure... those seem like they go to the master cylinder... so the next step would be for the slave...

after looking at pictures... it may seem that there is a roll pin also securing the quick connect portion on the slave? will those russell fittings replace the fitting on the master cylinder and the slave?

I'm pretty sure they will fit both the master and slave, i read they will. I have a pair to try with my diesel swap. ( they were cheap.) I fix forklifts... So an inline hydraulic disconnect and making a hose is no big deal.

thats pretty cool. i really do hope they fit both ends.

it seems with the age of the ranger and this forum, we would have more precise information reguarding things like this...

what would be the difference between -4an and -3an? just volume?

I just checked out IZ's thread that you linked to... It looks like the shaft on the Russell fitting isnt long enough for the slave. He had to extend it.
