Wow. This is a good one. I think I would feel safer using propane. If they phase out R134a what will the rest of the HVAC industry use? For that matter, what was wrong with Freon?

Nobody? I figured somebody would at least have a rebuttal for me on the Freon thing. O well.

Now that there are significant numbers of 134A vehicles running around they can now make a killing AGAIN on retrofitting all those vehicles and selling new equipment. :annoyed:

That and they like to showcase their ability to combine numbers and letters into nearly impossible to remember patterns.

R12 caused holes in the ozone layer, R134A is a greenhouse gas... apparently we met the quota for offsetting the damage caused by R12.

They say R12 caused holes in the ozone. I'm not convinced just yet. CFCs are heavier than air, and though i have read the whole story about air from the ground reaching the stratosphere, I'm still not convinced on the Ozone deal. R134a is a greenhouse gas, but is it really a significant contributor? Seriously, I wonder if we wouldn't do better to outlaw passing gas.

We're all screwed anyways, we've messed up the environment pretty badly.
Freon was good though

I have a flatulence problem when I eat/drink too much of the wrong things, but now I don't feel so bad.
