Got a DDM tuning 6000k 55w hid kid. First off it was a pain to install. I am dissapointed with the hi/low function. The bulb doesn't seem stable as it actuates in and out and the bulb kind of bounces around and isn't tight in its housing. Have the lights aimed very low as the lights form no line or anything, i haven't gotten projector headlights YET, but i understand now why people say they are a must. Curious if anyone has gotten the DDM tuning slim ballast kit with the hi/lo function cause my bulbs are having a hard time fitting in the bulb retaining lock rings, so i had to cut them down to fit. All in all i had a really hard time getting these lights in and they still down aim very well and i also wanted to know if anyone has a reference website where i can get some decent projectors that do NOT have the stupid halo on it. Just a projector for the hid bulb and thats it, can't find any decently priced, even on ebay. Anyways hope someone can help me a little bit, thanks in advance.

My credo
Work hard and play harder
I have a 6k kit as well w/ slim ballast and will have to admit that they were a pain in the ass to install. Totally worth it though imho. Glad to see you are getting the correct housing for the bulbs as well. It is on my to do list as well. I have not had any luck finding just a projector housing. You could get a housing w/ halo's and not connect them or put them on a switch so you determine when they are on. Just my thoughts though.

"More Light" or Light generated by gas discharge isn't necissarily "better" light.

hoosier, do you have the hi/lo? I was wondering if maybe the hi/lo function makes the bulb socket bigger, thus making it a tighter fit in the stock light bulb housing. The slip lock ring doesn't fit right, so i was thinking of just ordering the single low beam bulbs and just disconnecting the high beam wires. Plus the bulbs with the hi/lo function kind of jiggle around and its really getting on my nerves. Ya looked around for projector lights last night again and the ones i found that looked good were 200 + so i doubt i'll be getting them, but i dunno yet. Was also going to ask, i heard that what makes a projector housing a projector housing is a little plastic reflective cover that blocks the bulb so you technically couldnt see it from the housing, something like this....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-01-FORD-RANGER-2-4DR-BLK-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHT-XL-XLT-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZMakeQ3aFordQ7cModelQ3aRangerQQhashZitem27b19835c0QQitemZ170483267008QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories i don't know what the other light in the housing is tho? This is more of what i want but i don't want to pay for it....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Ranger-Projector-Headlights-Clear-1998-1999-2000-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4a9c61d1c1QQitemZ320451236289QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

btw allenD, ya i've read around that the hid brighter light isn't really better for driving or giving you more usable light, its more or less for the look, but i have noticed better driving light and just brighter.

I wouldn't use HID without proper projectors. Even so, Its not street legal and any smart cop can catch you. I spot illegal HID retrofits every day as the'yre blinding bright.

Just sayin`. I looked into a full conversion on my Mazda but didn't bother because it wont ever be legal, even with proper projectors. Ford/Mazda never made HID for trucks, so there's no way to lie about it if you get pulled over.

well first off i wouldn't lie to a cop to begin with. I've learned that if i just fess up and tell the truth, especially in my small town then they will more times then not just let you off with a warning. Second i have my lights aimed so low it shouldn't glare to bad in anyones eyes. I've driven by a couple of cops so far, and had a cop drive right by my lights, and he didn't even look at me or pay any attention to me.

HAHA. I just saw it and couldn't resist. I like word play and bad grammar is one of my pet peeves. What can I say?

The "i" isn't capitalized and the "i" in "i'm" isn't capitalized.

Sorry....I wanted to join the party. I sometimes don't even use proper punctuation but I almost always use proper spelling, after all, this board does have a built in spell-check feature... :icon_rofl:
