Recently came up with an 04 ext cab 4 door ranger. I HATE the 60/40 seats. In my 99 I found a good pair of power leather explorer buckets and console that were fairly bolt in. Yesterday I found a pair of power leather bucket seats out of an 04 explorer, for $40.....a pair.....in good condition.....in black.

They cleaned up really good. But the seat tracks are different and complicated looking, ie, not an easy swap for different seat tracks.

Also, I want to put a full length console. But not sure if the 04 explorer console will fit the ranger.

I have read and read, but not seen anyone post about the console or the newer explorer seats. Im thinking I might be screwed :(

04 Explorers didn't really have anything in common with Rangers so that's why you're running into problems. The Explorer consoles that are typically used come from 97 or 98-02 Explorers because they used the same dash as Rangers and it all lines up. You might be able to make the newer console work, but it would might require some trimming or customization where it meets the dash to look 'right'.

FOr the seats, you're going to have to customize something. Either modify the existing brackets, make new ones, or try to remove the explorer brackets and mount your stock brackets to the new seats.

Thanks for the reply. Thats what im seeing. Im considering trying to come up with/weld/get welded these seat tracks. I really like the seats and have so little in them it might be worth it.

In time, have other wrinkles to iron out first!

My credo
Work hard and play harder
Pull the Ranger seats out of the truck and remove them from the bracket. Remove the explorer seats from their bracket and see if the explorer seats remotely line up with the Ranger bracket. Worst case scenario you are out a couple hrs labor. May want to look into a full length console from a 1st Gen Sport Trac as well.

Some of the early 00's Rangers had tracks that were welded to part of the seat too.
