Okay so I have been wanting a truck for the past 2 years! I'm about to turn 18 and I'm on my third car. I'm sick of cars! I've had luxury (Audi a4), then a sports car (Mr2), and now a straight up commuter (Ford Escort). I really like Ranger's! I want to get a 99' 4x4 Ranger. I prefer the 3.0 but also thinking on the 4.0. I want to lift it and put nice wheels and tires on it. However I still want to get descent gas mileage. I'm not going to do a whole lot of wheeling and if I do go wheeling, it'll be very whimpy stuff haha. I want something that will sit nice but also affordable to drive. Any suggestions on what lifts and what size tires? Also what gearings should i go with? Help needed!!!!! Please and Thank you!!!!

id suggest going with a 4.0, no body i hear of likes the 3.0. the 4.0 is very torquey and fun to drive.

id suggest going with a 1997 or earlyer so you can get the rough country 4 inch lift kit.

idk any thing about lifts for the 1998+ other than that theres a sticky on them on the sites somewhere that you should look at.

if you do get to lift it id suggest you run 33 inch tires.

yeah only a 4 inch but thats all the lift youd need for 33's, and id say about 15-16 mpg, but ive never ran 33's. only ran 35's best i got from 35's was 13.

btw you can get by on most trails with 33's assuming you have the right traction aids.

i have a few friends who cruise around on 33's with a lift just like he wants. and hardly ever go offroad, but there also avid hunters, and use there rigs for daily driving, as well as towing, hunting, camping, blah blah. when it comes down to it there not afraid to throw it in 4 low and follow most guys. i understand it, its nice to be able to get to the camping spots not every one can get too.

My credo
WHY DO I KEEP BUYING DODGES?!?!?
How the hell do you ever get sick of an A4? We love our Passat and thats basically an S4 with an A6 ass end.

Put a lift on the Escort and some mudflaps and off road lights and voila:

BECAUSE RACE CAR!!!!!

I never crashed a single one. I got rearended in my Audi. I was on my way home and there is a lot of traffic on the Highway and I came to a stop because traffic was really backed uo and this Expedition that waas way behind me rear ended me at 55mph fracturing one of my vertabre. Then I decided to buy an Mr2 because my dad told me how fun they were. I live in Washington and it rains all the times. The t-tops leaked and I dealt with it for a year and got tired of it. So I sold it and bought the escort so I would save a lot of money on gas and insurance so i could save up for the truck I want. All young kids aren't dumb and wreckless.

I want a truck because I mow lawns along with my part time job and I'm tired of using my dads jeep and he's tired of it smelling like grass. So therefore I need a truck and I have always wanted a truck! I want to lift it because I dont like the low beaner look. I'm not interested in trucks that sit as low as cars. I want something that will sit nice and that I can take offroading a few times with my dad. I don't want something that is set up for mainly offroading because I will be driving it mainly on roads. And passats aren't like S4's at all. Passats aren't twin turboed. I was expecting advice from this forum, not criticism.

I'm not looking for a huge lift. I'm looking for something that sits nice because I'm not going to do a whole lot of wheeling!

Sorry I'm not your typical teenager. I don't enjoy reckless driving and I just want a nice work/daily truck. I'm more responsible than most kids my age. I have paid for all my cars, my insurance, my phone bill, my gas, and anything else I do. I haven't asked my dad for money since i was 14. I won't be getting a truck till this summer because I have prom next week and that took a large amount of money out of my account. Also I am still waiting on getting the settlement for my back injury in that car accident I was in which wasn't my fault!

man one thing u will learn with this forum if u cant take the criticism u shouldnt be on here cause there is alot and most of it is ppl yankin ur chain. i learned that the first time i posted here. so what u wanna do is go to the tire and wheel section of the forum and there is a sticky with lifted trucks they have what lift and what size tires they are running labled go look and see what u like the most. what i would recommend for u is 2 inch coil spacers up front and upgraded rear leafs if ur gonna be doing some towing and then put on some 31s just find the ones that look better for dd dont go and get some toyo m/t's if ur mostly gonna be dding it.
