i need a new front diff for my 2001 ranger 4x4. im gonna pull a couple for a replacement and an extra from the local Pull a part and was wondering if all the 98+ rangers and 95+ explorers use the same diff and all with the only difference being the CV shafts and what gear ratio it is ?

95-96 explorers have a CAD (center axle disconnect). They're different only for that reason.

The others should all be the same afaik.

It disconnects the passenger side cv shaft from the diff and causes the drivers side to spin just the spider gears. It's one way to prevent the front axle from turning while in 2wd. Truly not needed, even if you could get it to work. Just stick with the live setup.
