I went to the store to do some shopping, as I pull in I find myself parked between a newer Edge and a 2 wheel ranger..

as I step out of the truck, the passenger of the Edge makes a remark about "man that truck looks like shit" referring to my paint job and off roading dents.

nothing major on my truck's part but this Edge looked like it's never seen a day of off road use in it's life, stock height truck tires waxed and such..

I turned to the passenger and told him "any day you'd like to head up to the hills let's see if you can keep up with me and not get stuck, I use my truck as a 4x4 was intended"..

the driver never said a word but just pulled out..

do we have 2 classes of 4x4 owners or am I wrong??

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
You should have hit his CAR with your door. Then he would have a "battle scar" for the terrain he drives on.

Calling someone's vehicle a piece of shit (regardless of whether it's actually a piece of shit or not) right in front of the owner is just plain rude. That guy's a douche.

that's what i was gonna say.....and no, you dont have 2 classes of ranger owners, you really have 3 classes of people: 1) people that are d-bags 2) people that arent d-bags 3) people that sometimes act like d-bags (a distant relative of the people that act like d-bags)

when people do stuff like that, you should call their truck "cute"....just smile and go, "man, that's a cute truck you got there, i like that, that's real cute...." use cute anywhere from 3-5 times and they should get the idea that you're making fun of them, then just walk off and ignore whatever else they say. if you think about it, besides attacking someone with a baseball bat, there's really no comeback to that.

i dont know why, but that's what i've always done. i hate the word cute and it should never be used to describe a truck that a man drives

Mine is mainly a clean daily driver that I sometimes use directly for working and sometimes that means going off a paved road. I guess mine is kind of in the middle.

I once had a police officer pull me over to tell me my truck "looks a little beat up"...I was tempted to say "so does the last person who said that to me"...but I refrained...I would have said it to this guy though...because he can't give you a ticket...and he probably needs a good slap to improve his manners...

A truck isn't meant to look pretty. People used to bash me all the time when I had my '93 because the box was all beat up. They kept telling me to put a new box on it and it would look better.

As far as i'm concerned, you should need a special licence to drive a truck. If you don't use it as a truck...then you shouldn't be allowed to own one...PERIOD! Just think of how many trucks would be off the road and how much cleaner the air would be right now. Not that i'm a tree hugger or anything...just saying.
