my ranger needs new tires very soon as winter is fast approaching. ive decided to go with some tires from Treadwright as a cheap and reasonable option, but im unsure if i should stick with the stock 235/75s, or if i could move up to 30/9.5s with 3.27s. changing the gears isnt an option for awhile (probably next summer).

id really like to go with the 30/9.5 muds as i think theyll make a good winter/mud tire over the 235/75 crawlers. i like these two the most compared to the other tread patterns they offer. would the small increase in size (roughly 1") be worth it?

truck is a 4.0, 5 speed 4x4 ext cab (if youre too lazy to read under my name)

haha... im in the same boat, just different tires i have been looking at... got to love those ultra low 3.27 gears, great for ripping out stumps. i was actually looking at going up to a 31 x 10.5, so i would be interested in what people say

according to the gear and tire chart in the tech library id probably be ok going to 30's but im looking for some real world opinions about the size and tire choice.

I don't have the same gears (3.73) but I'm running 31 in. TreadWright Crawlers. They seem to do pretty good. I like them.

what kind of driving do you do with your truck?
I mainly drive it on the weekends. It does see paved roads the most but I do take it down some old coal mine roads river bottom roads and a few small trails on the farm.

i was looking at the at2's as well but after reading reviews and looking at ratings im going with firestone destination A/T. the at2's look like great tires but from what ive seen destination a/t are rated a little better and are only 2 bucks more expensive
