Alright. I know the 4.2 has been discussed soooo many times on this page but this is the only engine that's free to me to work with. I have a wrecked '04 Mercury Monterey that has the 4.2 Canadian Essex V6 that was freshly rebuilt about 8k ago. Thing is I haven't seen a thread that's specific to the Freestar/Monterey Vans. I've heard that because it's a transverse platform that the intake, bell housing pattern for a M50D-R1 (B2300) won't fit on an R2 engine (Monterey), and motor mounts are non-compatible with a Ranger frame, but there are arguments that it'll bolt in with reconfigured wiring, motor mounts, and minor clearancing. I have the complete donor van, I have the truck, and I'm NOT buying any other engines for it. I just need to know which side of the coin is true and which one is BS.
What I know I'll need:
Engine
Headers (Or RWD Manifolds)
Different Engine Mounts
PCM (Have 5 to spare programmed for that one van)
PCM Harness (Have 2 to spare)
Flywheel
Clutch Kit
The Rest is suggestions.
