Ford can explain their policy. But their policy is not the law. To deny a warranty claim, they have make a sound argument that your modification caused the failure. That would be difficult with a conventional air filter or exhaust change.

You agree to the terms of the warranty, it's a contract, when you sign and date the document.

Sure you could "lawyer up" and go head to head with Ford Motor Company, fighting them in regard to something they wrote down and you agreed to. I somehow think you won't be victorious in your endeavor.

All the warranty bs is a moot point for me. Not a one of my vehicles has one. I haven't had a vehicle with a warranty since 2006. Never will again either. I can't count the number of times I've been rolling with a police cruiser next to me on the right. Never been pulled over once, and it is loud. See the plates bolted into the ends of the pipes. I removed them yesterday. They were put there to quiet the things a little, which they did. Without them, I may start wearing ear plugs. Man does it sound good though! ;-)

Ford would have a very interesting time winning on court on a claim that the exhaust was the cause of a grenaded motor.
Especially if it is a Ford Performance exhaust which is often touted as being warranty compatable.

Well I trust my dealer. They haven't ever gave me any problem. I've bought 4 new cars and 1 used from them since 2000 and I've lifted modified exhaust added cold air intakes hell the focus svt had a 50 shot of nitrous and the changed mass air sensor for free. Guess they are a good one. Bates Ford in Lebanon Tennessee. Where he will trade for anything that dont eat. Haha how can you not trust a guy with that slogan haha. Tony Bates the owner is always on the lot and will greet you with a smile haha

No, actually, by law Ford has to prove that a non-factory modification caused a failure before they can deny warranty coverage. They are just not obligated to cover non-Ford components.

If you put a cat-back exhaust on the vehicle and it hurts performance Ford doesn't have to cover that. If you put a cat-back exhaust on and six months later the engine goes boom, or the trans starts slipping, Ford isn't going to deny your claim.

Not if it's a non factory tune, or a lift kit, or larger tires, etc. .... says so right in the warranty... see attachment.

I'm not sure what's confusing you about this...
Regardless of ford's attempts to convince you otherwise, they still have to obey the law. And the law is very clear - to deny coverage, they need a valid argument that your modification caused the failure. It's really that simple.

Warranties aren't law. The Magnuson-Moss act is. Warranty contract wording does not supercede it. The warranty could state that Ford has the right to consume your first born child but cannibalism is still illegal.

Still only certain components. Larger tires will void the warranty on wheel bearings, but not the engine.
