ok so i can get a 90 ranger or i think, it has the explorer front end, for a couple hundred, and a 5.0 out of a 1989 mustang. i searched and searched and i cant find anything. i know i need the basics motor, different tranny, 8.8 rear end. i just have a couple questions, the truck is a 2wd, and it is going to be a street truck, should i go carb or efi, will a carb pass emissions. i really dont have a budget. any input would help.

emissions depends on what state you are in. contact your DMV as far as engine swaps. you may have to use same year or newer motor, with all emissions controls intact.

or you could be in arkansas like me, and be able to shove in anything that will fit :yahoo:

you have a fuel injected motor and truck, so i would stick with that. a little more work, but much more rewarding.

What do you mean by "Really dont have a budget?"
Lack of funds?Or plenty of cheese to spread around?

In that case finding a V-8 Explorer in good shape for a donor would be your best bet.
