bought this with a blown clutch..........father inlaw helped me ( he did it well i was out of town ), he didnt deem in necessary to change the slave cyl. And as i wasnt there it didnt get done.

The problem is 3rd gear, sort of, and the reason i say sorta is its intermittant. When i first started driving it it was almost impossible to get into 3rd from 2nd, there was no grinding, etc it just refused to go in. However if you jump over to 5th and come back to 3rd it shifted in fine. After a few weeks it started shifting into 3rd grudgingly ( never once forced it into 3rd ), then it started shifting normally, now its very intermittant, t'll shift perfectly fine for 2 or 3 weeks then a few times it wont want to go, jump to 5th and back to 3rd and its good again. No problems in any other gears. No leaks underneath, no grinding, ect everything looks good, any idea whats going on? Or why it would go from worse to better like that? I'm a little confused with this. Another minor detail, i dont know how significant it is, the shifter doesnt center from the left side, if you pull it to the right it centers like it should, but pull it to te left and it just sits there. Also the fluid is good, its not loosing any from the resevoir.

ANY idea's? Suggestiongs,etc ?

My credo
Life is too short for cheap beer.
I'd pull that shifter just to make sure that it's seated properly. Other than that could be a syncro issue that was caused when the old clutch went out. Hope this helps!!
