After a few months looking, I finally found a decent Ranger XLT 4 door. I hope to find out about the ways of these trucks here and share whatever I can, having owned a '83 and '79 Bronco II and currently own a '10 Explorer Limited. Thanks for allowing me to join.

Welcome to TRS. I'm just up the road in middle TN. Frequent Georgia trails quite a bit.

Welcome!

I think @Rick W is in your area. I'm about an hour and a half south in the Macon and Warner Robins area.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the welcome.
You’re still on probation. Keep your nose clean, and in a few months you can get one of these…

…. And then work your way up.

Just kidding. Welcome aboard, I’m up in Dunwoody. Are you a trail rider, or a truck show guy, or ??? What’s your fetish?

To be honest, I wanted a truck I could rely on to get to work and get me wherever I need to go and be able to work on when it's needed. Basic stuff, I guess.

Nothing wrong with that. You picked a good platform. Both of the Rangers I have have over 300,000 miles, and they’re very easy to work on and it’s very easy to find parts for them.

I like to customize stuff. I like having the mechanical toys more than actually riding around in them. Like I said, I got both of mine with over 300,000, but I had to do very little mechanically when I got them.

Good luck with it!

This one had a few wrinkles that I've started on, the previous owner had tried to pry off the plastic portion of the ignition lock trying to open the column. Replaced that. he had also removed the OEM radio and now I see he bricked it. Bought a new radio. The shield fasteners have disintegrated on both rear doors. ordered substitutes. Just stuff one gets with a used vehicle.

If you’re planning on doing a lot of work, you might want to start a build thread. They’re fun, and their helpful to anyone else who buys the same kind of truck to have to do the same kind of things. Just a thought.
