just got 4 new rancho rs5000 shocks, said they were for lifted rangers when i got them and the shocks when fully extended are about 2 inches shorter than the tuff country shocks i have on the truck now (i have a 4 inch lift on the truck). put them in place to see what it was like and with the truck on the ground theres only an inch of the shock past the bottom mount with the shock extended out. my guess is that there too small but i was hoping someone would be able to help me out, thanks.

Rancho only makes shocks for a 2.5-3" lift on rangers. Anything bigger is from different applications.

Yeah last I checked, Rancho doesn't have a 18.5" long shock that would fit up front (it's been awhile since then though).

A 5117 (front) is for 3" lift and is 17.5" ext. length. The 5010 (rear) is 26.5" (same as stock)

The 5115 (20.5") and 5005 (29.5") would work though (and would allow full droop of the suspension too. Be sure to put retainer clips on the coils though). You should be able to just exchange them.

IIRC, JD's apps are also 3" and 5.5", and would probably be similar length shocks to what I mentioned.

Edit, I take that back, their 5.5" kit replaces the shock mounts, probably the only ones they have that would fit yours are the 3" ones.

I'm running 3" JD shocks on mine with a 4" tuff country. They work. The rear shocks are actually a little long since I rotated my mounts up on the axle. The fronts are long enough, I think they either matched droop with the stock radius arms, or limited droop about 1/2", like stock shocks on a stock suspension. If I can find my JD shock table later I'll post up the lengths.
