M5ODs use Mercon ATF. Other manuals use 80w-90 gear oil. Any brand will do.

I would change it, drive it a bit, and then change it again so that you get the gear lube out of it.

Yes it is ATF, and your 2007 will use mercon V ATF.

Not overly. I know we sell it for around $5 CAD per litre at the dealership i'm pulling wrenches at.

actually ford released a tsb saying that its ok and recommended to use mercon v in all m5od's.

i used HD30 wt in mine for a while, got tired of the power robbing so i drained it all out and the oil that came out was shiny with shift ring particles, still shifts fine though

As said, drain it out and fill with the mercon V and cross your fingers.

30weight ENGINE oil and 75w-90 gear oil are NOT numbered in the same numerical scale.

And if you only ran it a few weeks you weren't running it "long"
six months is "long"

Mercon 5 works fine in the newer transmissions ('98-up)
but I prefer the older Mercon in the earlier transmissions.
It's a shift quality thing.

On the newer boxes? I actually prefer the 5

I've run Mercon3 in a late box and didn't like it.
it takes a split second too long for the synchro ring
to squeegee it off the friction cone.
