I searched under "fuel pump", "fuel cell" and "fuel system" and found a little information here and there. I didn't find too much though.
Here's what I am dealing with....
I have a 1991 ranger extended cab 4x4 with the 4.0. The engine is completely stock. About a year ago, I pulled the box off to do some work on the rear frame and suspension. Once I got it off, I noticed the stock plastic tank had a big crack in it, and the fitting on top of the in tank connected to the fuel pump / sending unit was corroded away. So either way, I need a new tank and pump.
Here's my dilemna...
Eventually I want to put an efi v8 in it with the mustang gt40 style intake induction setup on it. I also will need a fuel cell as the rear suspension I have built on the truck won't allow use of the stock tank anymore. Therefore, I will need a fuel cell.
My problem is that I dont want to pay a lot of $$ for a new stock ranger pump and then have to figure something else out when I drop the v8 in it.
Does anybody have any external electric fuel pumps they would reccommend?
I plan on replacing everything up to the fuel rails, so I figure I will need a new fuel cell, fuel lines, a fuel filter, the pump, and possibly a fuel pressure regulator. Is there anything else you guys can think of that I would need?
What brand model of the above parts woyld you reccomend?
Like I said, it would be really nice if I could get away with using all of this with the 4.0, then being able to turn the pressure up if need be and reusing it on down the road witha v8...
Any and all help is appreciated.
