Has anyone here removed a rearview mirror mount from a windshield.. and not busted the glass?

Might have to go to Binswanger and let them do it if there is no easy removal technique

Patience, a utility knife blade, and acetone or nail polish remover. They are held on with cyanoacrylate cement aka: superglue.


Don't forget to protect your dashboard. Acetone will eat holes in it.

panama is correct except i use all that plus a ear drop thing or eye drop bottle with a removable cap, that way u hols a towel under it and squeeze it onto the mirror mount, it helps with a better aim instead of trying to pour it out of the can or using it on a rag

It'll come off. And acetone will take the glue off. Mine came off for me... went out to the truck for a smoke on my day off early in the morning, came back a few hours later and thought someone was F-ing with me. It was on the floor.

You should put it back on with proper stuff, got a nice little kit, I think by permatex, for a few bucks.

I had the opposite problem...could not get one to stick to the windshield (without professional help)...so I used one from a Suzuki Sidekick...does not require glue...and can be removed with a screwdriver...much easier...never have to worry about knocking it off during wild sex either...

I bought one for $20 at the store and a couple bucks for the glue kit. Just cleaned it up and stuck it on. No problems. But you should be able to pull the old one with acetone and a razor blade. I'd try making small cuts into the edge to get the acetone in further. Then scrape with the razor
