Hey do any of you guys know the mod you can do to your key so you can remove it once the engine is running? On my old 99 this happened i started it one time and the key fell out and after that i could always start the truck with the key but i was able to remove it after it was already running.

My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
just means either the key is worn out or the tumbler is worn out. I had the original 1982 key for my Land Cruiser and I could do that..... come to think of it my 1971 Corolla and 1978 Datsun 810 the keys were interchangeable because of this.

my 01 ranger can remove the key since there is almost no more bumps on the key. so if you really want to remove it just file the key down a bit. from what i hear keys wear out on there own if your keychain has alot of weight on it.

jap rides have this problem a lot.
they started with anykey
the 93 ranger mom had , u could take the key out while running, but it didnt started with any key.
she had it for 13 years and that never gave us trouble, so i guess its not harmful.
remove the bits on the barrel, dont grind the key cuz u could have trouble when opening the doors

Don't grind the key down to do this! the reason it works is because BOTH the tumblers and key have worn down. grinding the key would essentially make the key super worn and the tumblers would still work and keep the (now unrecognizable key) from turning.
