Is this a loss cause or is there a way to get back the shine on my newly purchased 91 Ranger? Thanks

No idea without pictures.

And depends how much you want to work for that shine.

Or pay lol. Most likely, yes it can be done.

a '91 eh? It's headlamps are crap...when it was new, they are probably yellowed, I would start by replacing those! Aftermarkets with the clear lens, like this one: http://www.xtralights.com/89-92fordranger91-94explorerheadlights-crystalpair.aspx?utm_source=GoogleShopping&utm_medium=organic&gclid=CKLqxK2rubkCFZE7Mgod338AmQ

and I would use Maguire's car wash soap, and Maguire's wax and a power buffer. That is about as good as you can get, unless the taillights are hazed up, then replace those, and perhaps some fresh chrome bumpers from LMC tuck.

I took my little sister's 97 F-150 to a detail shop near me this January for her birthday gift. It was looking dull but the paint was still good...no fade or peeling. I had it buffed head to toe, carpet cleaned, interior wiped down to make it look new again, the aluminum AR wheels were polished back to a nice new look again. It was right at $150 to do it. She was so happy. I thought they did a great job. I might take my 99 Ranger there next week for a good buffing.

Its going to need buffed at the very least, might need wetsanded if its got scratches (it probably does). Its a lot of tedious work but it can be done!

If you plan on doing it yourself don't bother with off the shelf products like mothers or meguiar's.

Order done stuff from Adams polishes. You will not be disappointed.

Horse pucky.

I used Meguiar's 3 step system on my 86 GT. It looked awesome afterwards, and I even one best of show for 79-86 Fox Body's the following weekend. Unfortunately, this is the only pic I can find of it right now.

Mothers and meguires make compounds and polishes that work just fine. The real difference maker is using a buffer with them, with the proper pads for the product.

Yes. They make good stuff and it works fine. I used to swear by meguiar's. as I'm sure I posted about in the past.

But after trying Adams its a noticeable difference.

I'll never use anything else again.

If you don't want to order your stuff online, and dot need the absolute best, then there's nothing wrong with using mothers or meguiar's.

All I saying is, if it was me. I'd be using Adams as nothing else.

If you have the right tools like paint buffer and products like Mothers and Meguiars, and you are willing to spend some hours, then you can do it. Or have it done by a detailing shop.
