Just picked up a 94 4x4. It has a bad rake and I was thinking of getting the Rough Country 1.5" levelling springs. How do these springs ride compared to the stock springs? Do I need new bushings to align it correctly even with the 1.5" lift?

I do not like leveling springs. They mess up your alignment and you will spend a lot of money getting it back right.

I was hoping this leveling fad would go away. Pickup trucks are designed to carry heavy loads in the back, and also ride decent empty. That is why they have a rake, they have progressive leaf springs in the back. The very thin curved leaf springs make it sit a little high, but they are thin and give a good empty ride. When you put weight on the back, the thin springs flatten out against the thick straight leaf on the bottom, without it sagging too much.

You can eliminate the rake but if you plan on doing a lot of load carrying, you could end up with a sagging rear end that will look worse and may make a police officer think you are over loaded. If you don't plan on hauling much, a leveled truck is a popular look.
