Ok here's the deal. My 1987 Bronco 2 needs a driver seat.

1. The back is broke, one side leans back more than the other. I had it welded up and reinforced locally. That improved it a lot, but it's still not right.

2. The previous owner smoked like a chimney and burned a hole in the seat. Not only that but the padding is shot anyway.

I'm not above taking the seat apart again (as much of a pain in the *** that it is), but I just want it fixed. Should I be looking at a new one or what?

Go to a wrecker. A new seat is as cheap as $20.
Find something out of a same-model/year if you want it to bolt right in, or get something nicer from a newer vehicle, and just mount it to the rails that are on your garbage seat.

Been there. I find that most seats from Bronco 2's or early Explorers aren't much better than the one I've got. Not only that, it's difficult to find the right color.

Either that, or the window / door of the wrecked vehicle was left open and the seat rotted.

Thanks for the suggestion though. That was the first thing I tried.

Where can I go for new parts? Do they exist?

I've thought about going to a wrecking yard that that actually gets wrecked cars, not junk cars, and get the seats from a newer ranger. They would probably cost more, but then again so would brand new seats. If you really want NEW seats, I imagine that you should be able to get new seats for new rangers through the ford dealer.

I just called a Ford Dealership and they said you can not get new complete seats. He recommended I go to a trim shop, or an auto upholstery specialist.. they can diagnoses and repair most stuff. :\

one thing to consider, the seats may not need to come from another B2 or Ranger.

On my Jeep forum, we've found a couple of other vehicles that the seats are drop in replacements for the originals. Bolted right up with no mods required. Guy actually played a guessing game thread as to which vehicle they came out of with us.

If you do a few measurements, go to a local junk yard, you might find something.....

I know that probably doesn't help, but googling might be a start and at least gives a few more options.

Yeah, I think another trip to the junkyard is in order. I just saw this in the tech library:

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Seats.html

I'll probably print it out and head up to the junkyard sometime in the near future. All I ask is that they're the right color. I don't need a red seat with a blue interior. :icon_twisted:
