As soon as I get another coupon thing from Cabelas (spend so much, get so much off) I will probably be getting a different shotgun for hunting deer. I am liking everything about the Savage 220F 20 gauge bolt action at the moment.
Who makes a good scope for a slug gun? I have always used open sights on my 500 and have gotten along pretty good with the sub 100 yard shots but I would like to be able to shoot a little farther with a margin of reliability unlike my smooth bore 500. Plus like most rifles the 220F doesn't have iron sights.
I don't want to spend a fortune, but I want something that will work good (of course) It is based on the Savage 110 rifle and takes the same scope mounts so anything that fits one of them should fit this gun too.
I love the 500, but I want to get a fullsize gun (not a "Bantam" like I have now) with a rifled barrel. The 500 will stick around for clay busting parties though.
