Hey,
I notice that a hanger on my exhaust pipe broke off leaving a dime size hole, I am wondering what peoples recommendations are on repairing the hole and what they have used in the past, the hanger is not needed to keep pipes connected. Id rather not buy a pipe and have to pay a shop to weld it (Cant do that myself)

thanks in advance.

If you want cheap, I'd go with two large hose clamps and tin can with the top and bottom cut out and split lengthwise. It won't be a perfect seal, but it'll be much better.

I've seen worse, the little guy will melt, and I would make an attempt to reattach the hanger just in case the forward one goes next.

My credo
"220, 221, whatever it takes."
Exhaust repair tape will work for a while, whether it is legal depends on the state. I'm in PA where that will not pass the annual inspection.

Those bands are what I would do. In possibly the sketchiest repair I have ever made I had a tail pipe tear at a hanger after the guy backed into something. He wanted the hole closed cheap, and didn't care how, but the area was wrapped in header wrap, so no welding.

I got a packet of muffler cement and a band clamp, slobbed that clamp up with cement, and slapped that puppy over the hole. I figure it's gonna last about two years.
