smog pump removal

is there anything special need to know about removing the smog pump from my 1985 ranger 2.8 v6? the spout the that the rubber line attaches to rusted and broke off and I'm just gonna removeit all together and was wondering what the best way to do it is. will it hurt the carburetors operation and what should i look for as i'm doing this? thanks

I removed it and used the same sized belt as the power steering side. Capped off the vac lines and used some flat stock steel for block off plates on the manifold.

so were any of your spouts broke and did you have to weld anything?

Nah they weren't broken. The air injection tubes into the manifold are held in place by a bolt on each manifold. I just simply unbolted them, cut some flat stock at like 1" x 2", drilled a hole in the stock, and bolted it back with some sealant.

thanks kevin.I haven't gotten around to it yet. I've been busy trying to sand it down and prime it.But hopefully next weekend I'll get that outta the way.

What would be a good sealant to use?

With the high temp of the exhaust manifold, I was wondering what sealant would be good to use and be able to last with that type of heat
