Theres really no "fitting" section for this but here she goes.

I got a bit bored alst night and completely rewrote Charlie Daniel's The Devil Went Down To Georgia to be all about zombies. In my head it started as a joke but it seems to have turned out much better than a joke. It mentioned guns, pickups, and slayin' the undead so I figured someone here would like to read it. Feedback is welcome. Now, it's not an exact rewrite, but it would fit with the music if I recorded it and I did match the structure pretty close. Also keep in mind I'm still revising it. Don't bother pointing out grammar, this IS technically a country song. :icon_thumby:

The Zombies Came Down To Georgia-

The zombies came down to Georgia
They were lookin' for some flesh to eat
You could smell their stench from a mile away
Boy, you better be quick on your feet

The hoard came across a young boy
Sippin’ on beer and smokin’ some joints
Then a man showed up in a pickup truck
And opened fire with hallowpoints

The young boy didn't know it
But the End of Days had come
And if you're out of bullets
Then I swear your life is done

The man said "My name's Johnny
And killin' might be a sin"
He tossed the boy a pistol
And said "But these ain't no mortal men"

"Now I shoot a pretty good pistol, boy
I keep the shotgun loaded too
I'll bet my life and a box of shells
That I can make more bodies than you"

Johnny load up all your guns and keep ‘em close at hand
'Cause hells broke loose in Georgia and the dead now walk the land
And if you squeeze that trigger and your aim is straight and true
And keep one in the chamber, you might just make it through

Johnny racked a 12 gauge shell
And said "I'll start this show"
And fire flew from the barrel
Until he needed to reload

And then he pulled out his 1911
And it made the bodies drop
And waves of zombies kept rollin' in
His fire liked to never stop

When the killin’ finished
Johnny said "You're safe for now old son,
But I suggest you run and arm yourself
If you wish to see the dawn"

Zombies in the woods now, run boys run
All the Good 'Ole Boys done grabbed their guns
Say your prayers and keep your powder dry
'Cause the sound of death will fill the sky

Johnny slayed the hoard
But blood was soakin’ through his sleeve
He said a prayer and gave the young man
His guns, supplies, and his keys

Johnny said "Boy, burn my remains
'Cause the bitten always rise again
And I'd rather die than walk the land
Seekin' the flesh of my fellow man"

Zombies in the woods now, run boys run
All the Good 'Ole Boys done grabbed their guns
Say your prayers and keep your powder dry
'Cause the sound of death will fill the sky

(music would fade now and a gunshot heard)

It's still a little jokish, but apparently 4 of my friends liked it so much they started discussing how to get some music behind it for a recording lol. Still tweakin the lyrics tho.

My credo
Love Thy Neighbor
That's actually pretty good...reminds me of some of the songs from the 50's and 60's...like The Rebel (Johnny Uma) and Big John...

I kinda want to rewrite where it says "1911" to say "Colt 45" just for the flow but I really wanted to be model specific as it's one of my favorite pistols.

Got any feedback? I've played it through in my head so many times I can't judge if anything doesn't sound quite right.

Didn't expect such an overwhelmingly positive response, thanks guys. Still working on sorting the music, I've no engineering skills/recording equipment/etc, and have been swamped by life recently. I might write more as well.
