Do they have good low end throttle responce? My 5.0 is a little slugish right off idle.....
I can find hp/tq numbers, but not a hp/tq at rpm numbers.

The guy owes me a little,so i might get it cheap. Might be a engine swap in my future.
The engine in the BII is kinda starting to knock from being on its side/top. A new engine would be :smoking:

Just go with one from a F150. Better intake, more torque.

It has good throttle response. I have one in my truck. I have Torque Monster headers though. I am guessing I have around 200 hp and around 215 ft/lb of torque.

Motor: 96 Expo w/ GT40 heads, Torque Monster headers, cold air intake
Exhaust: true duals; 2 3/4" all way back going through a Flowmaster 50 series

Go with the ex motor, the f150's intake won't fit. As long as it doesn't have the 'P' head (97.5-01), headers won't be a problem...

Hoosier, you are correct, the 'P' heads have the different angled plugs...

You can usually use differently angled plug boots to get around the header issue though.

Not 100% sure. We kinda ran out of daylight. I just reached through all the B.S. and felt the plugs. They came out "fairly" straight. Not angled back bad.

I think im gonna see what he will sell it to me for.
Sometimes he will trade me pound for pound (scrap iron). He might trade my old engine for that one, just because they weigh the same.

If you can, grab the engine harness and ecu with the motor. I can send you some info on what you will need to do wiring wise. You only need about 6 wires to hook up to get it running. A few more for gauge readouts and diagnostic port. Best of all, unlike the mustang harness, is everything is in one plug, the square 42 pin plug...

From what I was told, they do not flow as good either. 97+ also has PATS as well. That is the main reason I went with a 96 bc my truck does not have PATS.

96-97 don't have pats. Pats started in 98 and went through 01. I just used a 97 motor, trans and ecu in a jeep 5.0 swap I did last month...

Even if it does, pats can either be tuned out or you can swap ecu's. When I did the swap in the jeep I deleted all emissions including egr, even pulled the circuits out of the harness entirely. It has a check engine light on, which is expected, and it runs a little rich cause I didn't install the rear O2 sensors, but other than that it runs good. I'm going to talk the owner into getting a tuner to delete the emissions and rear O2 sensors. That will give it better fuel economy. The jeep is going to be a trail only rig, so emissions isn't really needed on his...
