I recently converted my 92 Ranger 2.3L w/MD5R1 4x2 to accept a BW1350 Transfer case. In doing so, the cable for the speedometer will not reach the new port on the transfer case. Is there an adapter made to join another length of cable or am I looking at replacing the entire cable:dunno:

You'll need a cable from a 4x4 truck.

Gen 2 Tauruses, and maybe Gen 1, had two piece cables. You might check one out at JY and see if that'd work. The problem is you'd probably have too much cable to work with then.

I went to JY and pulled an instrument cluster (w/tach) and speedometer cable out of a 93 Explorer. Since my 92 did not have a tach in the pannel, I swaped the 93 into the 92 with relatively little difficulty. Now I have the upgraded instrument cluster w/tach and everything works great.

I would be amiss if I did not give credit to this blog ([PDF] Ford Ranger Instrument Cluster Upgrade). This person swaped out a 93 instrument pannel w/out tach for a 92 w/tach) I just reversed the steps paying close attention to several of the wires that needed to be changed from one of the two plugs to the other plug. All in all, it was not that difficult.
