Both of those are the same.

The holes look close to mine which is what has me wondering if you just egg them out a hair or if you have to shim it to get the spring to fit right or what is involved.

Mine (didn't get a pic without the spring)

Have you considered making a patch panel for yours?

I don't know how much I have to work with.

After I get done playing gardener tonight I plan on getting mine off.

It would be nice to just slap a new one on and call it a day though.

New is nice. I'll agree with you there. But piecing together a patch panel shouldn't be too hard on that bucket. Of course, rust always hides itself and has traveled much further than you originally thought once you get everything removed and cleaned..

Just looking from the outside it is going to need patched at least from rivet to rivet with that stupid crap catching pocket in the middle. So I would still be drilling holes.

Good.

I'd look up inside the engine crossmember and see what kind of shape the rail looks to be in. That will give you an idea of how big a hole it is going to tear in your frame when you remove it.

Sounds like a good way to ruin the suspense...

When I first found a hole, like nickel sized a few years ago I cleaned it out and have tried to keep up on it. Hopefully that helped.

Using the Van Dorn bucket i used a sharpie to mark where the holes in the bucket are vs where the holes in the frame are:
