Age has little to do with it, at your age (I'm only 10 yrs older) I new alot of bands becasue I grew up and listened to alot of music that was from "before my time) from the 50's on.
And the comment about shindown having only one good song and couldn't be a "serious music persons favorite" is a very opinionated statement that seems to show your age. I could say the same about Incubus if I thought like that, I personally do not like one song I've heard of theirs, but music is about personal taste not just what you like.

Toss up between James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett- Metallica. Hammett can rip it up like I could only dream but the shear fact that Hetfield can play his rhythm parts that fast while signing and not watching his guitar amazes me.
