Took a 2021 for spin. Very car like. This one was a Supercab XL (with STX package). Honestly, I wasn't blown away by it for $39,000.00 but it did feel good/easy to drive and maneuver.
Supercab should have a rear seat delete like in my 2011. I just use for storage.

I noticed the combination of turbo and 10 spd auto made it slightly jutter at lower speeds. As if the first few gears are very low and blow through to 4 th from stop to cruising.
Great power, but wondering how many issues will be after 100,000 kms. Turbo/GDI and small engine will never outlast a stout NA V6 or NA V8.

ADDED: auto start/stop. Don't understand why this extra tech is needed (more dealer repairs?), but thankfully there is a kill switch. Just have to make habit to shut off on every start up.

I would consider it over all, keeping an eye on long term issues and doing research. I would definitly have to order from scratch to make sure I get what I actually want. Every truck being sold has a trailer package. I don't tow, so why waste $600 on something I won't use and better spent on a remote start (for example).

Don't like the forced 4x4 when all I need is 4x2 .

I've yet to even sit in a new Ranger...

I'm still waiting for the next gen Ranger before I do any new vehicle purchase. I'm thinking it might be a tough sell to get me in one over the Bronco... but we shall see.

Next gen Ranger? When is that coming out? I'd be afraid they'd make it even more complex.

If it will bring a 2wd version, I'll wait for that then. Don't understand why Ford is forcing 4x4.

Probably it's too new for the transmission to have learned its shift patterns yet. Computer controlled transmissions are like that, if you have to disconnect or replace the battery they will shift rough for a day or two. My daughter's Fiesta is especially bad for that and there is in fact a class action lawsuit against Ford for Fiesta and Focus transmissions.

I didn't think I'd like the auto stop/start since I rented a BMW for a business trip last year that had it, but the Ranger's system is actually far better and smoother than BMW's and you don't have to jump through hoops on the dash to turn it off. If I'm in heavy traffic where I need to move quickly I turn it off but otherwise I leave it on and it doesn't bother me. I purposely got an STX without the Ford 360 lane alert bullshit because I DID hate that on the BMW.

2023 is what I'm hearing... but these days... it may get delayed.

There are certainly 2WD versions of the current Ranger.

Auto stop / start at traffic lights is brought to you by the idiots in Washington who think they know what's best for us. It is required by regulation.

The system isn't required by any government regulation. But it's a common manufacturer solution to meeting the required emissions standards.

Yep, that too.

As far as I know, the government has never really gotten involved in the -how- of meeting fuel economy and emissions standards. Manufacturers can pretty much choose whatever equipment they want to use (or not to use) to get there. I'm honestly not sure that even the catalytic converter is required. It's just a necessity to meet the standards.

Only in the USA, I'm learning. Otherwise I'd be going for the 2WD.
