I think (but can't swear) that both the rear axles I photographed were on 2wd trucks.

interesting, one had a step rail. must have been to show what options are available.

Thanks. That's the silver STX that Jim is leaning against in another picture. Step rail, tow hooks, and a receiver hitch. Definitely a 2wd though. The door sticker is listed around here somewhere, Vin ends in 48.

Actually, I just realized it has both STX and FX4 badges... I may have just lost track of which truck was which from my pictures.

I’m trying to remember. I think the build page requires the STX package to get the FX4. At least it did when I ordered the XL with FX4.

CORRECTION: I ran the Build & Price tool on all three trim levels. I guess the XLT & Lariat models already have everything required for FX4, so don't offer it or require it.

I'm just confused because I thought that was the truck I got the 2wd pictures from. Who knows... There were nine parked around the area so I must have them mixed up in my head.

XL has to have the STX appearance package to get the FX4 option.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
On paper yes.

Real world? Doubtful.

#1 That tiny little box on the new ranger cant even fit 1800lbs worth of stuff. A 8ft box F150 could eaisly swallow its "rated" capacity plus more. Not to mention most new trucks generally seem to be rated closer to true capacity instead of grossly underated like the old trucks.

it has a hd d44. racked, i could put 3 k worth of weight in it easily. it would beat the holy living fawk out of a bullnose 1/2 ton or 100. did you see the frame? in the real world...a bullnose will break in half long before that chassis will... fold up like a cheap lawn chair.in 10 years of michigan winters....maybe not so true.

2- 7500lbs is going to be much more stable behind a wider, longer, bullnose 150 then behind a narrower, shorter, ranger. Not to mention the fact (assuming we go for max everything here) that bulls 351W H.O is going to eaisly outsnort a turboed 4 banger in the Revs trucks are normally in. I dont know why everything has to have such a ridiculious powerband. Assuming because the higher the RPMs, the more HP you can claim, and the better it looks in advertisements.

are you really this ignorant?...or just being argumentative just to argue?....

have you ever driven an ecoboost anything subjectively?

its a fuking ecoboost.

not simply a 2.3 with a turbo slapped on it.

it is direct injected with variable valve timing.

its 5 engines in one and manages diesel torque capacity via the overly complicated wizardry....

you plug in one item from cobb and it makes more power then any 80's engine. dont even have to get your fingers dirty.

351 ho.....yeah...the ecoboost makes more torque from 1500 to redline then a 351 ho.

205hp ho 305-310 tq@ 2600..

it has better suspension and frame rigity by magnitudes andis about the same weight....it will tow the same load much better...

3- With the exception of the 80-82 100/150 swiss cheese frame trucks, the chassis on any older 1/2 ton is going to be much more suited to day in/day out rigors of hauling a 7500lb trailer. Not to mention the difference in utter strength between a C6 and whatever the new ranger has, the difference between a 9in rear and whatever is in the new truck, and the Ibeam vs coil over.

So yes, on paper. But i highly doubt 30 years from now many 2019 rangers will still be around earning their keep like i see quite a few bulls still doing.

New isnt always better.

new isnt always better...ok. we agree there.

the chassis of any 80.s 1/2 ton isnt shit compared to this critter...new for new...different galaxies.

corrosion on the other hand....yeah...i am skeptical of steel metallurgy being a bad idea..... but maybe its the good stuff....wont know for 5 years or so...

that transmission would murder a c6. you put them back to back...stock for stock...the case on the c6 will explode. uber strong.

the rear axle is better then any factory 9 in...

and brakes....the braking capacity alone makes this the preferred unit to tow with...of course the brakes on the bullnose are ok since it could never tow as much as fast as this thing will...

i beams??? yeah.....beams for the win.

your amazing.

your amazing.

I think its best to agree to disagree here. Yall are excited for the new ranger which is understandable, and i dont wanna be a buzzkill.

Just saying, just because it stacks up on paper doesnt always translate to the real world.

But, if we are honest, just like 90% of people who buy trucks nowadays, we dont really truely know if they can live up to the hype because 9/10 people never haul more then their kids powerwheel.

That reminds me;

Anyone know how much these pumpkins weigh?

There's around 800-1000lbs there pretty easily I imagine. I attempt to grow prize pumpkins every year but I'm still learning. I'd freak out if one of mine got anywhere close to that large.

Lead follow or get out of my way
I grow buckets full of veggies every year... I tried giant pumpkins a couple times... never had anything close to that. I gave up.

My guess would be 1100 lbs.
