My credo
A properly suspensioned Ranger can be safely airborne for up to 4 seconds at a time! =:O
OK, obviates the hub problem (still got the shift motor vulnerability), but now you're spinning all that extra mass, ALL the time... what's that do to your MPGs... and your handling?

Plus I'm supposed to get the EXplorer REAR axle as well, for the disc brakes and heavier duty benefits, and on and on...

Starting to think I should just buy an Explorer, and chop it down into a pickup truck, LULZ!

i get 20mpg on the highway and 18 in town. but i swapped in a 2006 sohc so i couldnt tell you numbers from the 3.0 but this is the set up that the 2001 and up rangers have gone to and you dont need an explorer rear axle an fx4 8.8 works just fine
