TIL that I'm supposed to pull on the wires when disconnecting automotive connectors. That goes against what I learned about household appliances and extension cords. Found this out in my new to me 1980 Ford Car Shop Manual - Electrical.

Edited to replace "cords" with "wires"

Pull on the cords as opposed to pulling on the plugs. I'll post a pic of the page in a minute...
Perhaps I should have said wires.
I've always had a real problem getting automotive connectors apart. Maybe this is the trick. I'll find out next time...

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.

Works great, all the wires pop right off at the base of the connector.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
It feels wrong. I’ve been an electrician soooo many years, knowing it’s wrong to pull the wires or cord.

That's exactly why those old hard shell connectors are no longer used.

Not sure if this thread is suppose to be only about connectors... but..

Today I Learned...

When I really want/need a pair of 10 x 2 1/2 inch finned Aerostar drums... all the evil forces are aligned to prevent me from getting them.

First pair... right size w/o cooling fins. Back they go.

Second pair from the local parts store... after 5 days of waiting and they'll be here tomorrows... I made them call the warehouse. No longer available.

Third pair from Amazon... ordered 6 days ago... has been picked up by the carrier and hasn't moved in 5 days... and delivery has been pushed to the 26th to 28th. Being shipped by UPS. I kinda feel like they're caught up in a looming strike...

I'm half tempted to cancel and try rockauto... I swore I would never use them again after they charged me shipping from three warehouses on a set of 6 spark plugs.

Ok... I feel a little better
