hey guys. i've just been looking at going to a bigger tire on my ranger when this set kicks the bucket.

i have an 04 fx4 lvl 2 currently running the 31 x 10.5's BFG at's on alcoa 15x8 rims.

looking at going to either 32x12.5 or 33x12.5. the difference in tire price between my current tires and the 33X12.5's is only like 15 bucks but i was wondering if anyone knows just how much this will effect my gas milage in either a percentage or mpg way. or if you know how to find out.

i plan on doing a torsion bar crank to get 1.5 inches in the front and adding 1 inch of blocks in the rear which will reduce some of the factory rake but not all of it, and from the sounds of it they should fit with little or no rubbing. correct me if i'm wrong.

thanks for your help

I have 33"tires w.a 3.0 engine.(2003)
I am getting apx 12 miles to the gallon(city).
I haven't got a chance to see what I'm getting on the HWY.(not many chances to drive over 40 miles w/out stopping)

I'm running 33s with a 4.0 and I'm getting around 15-19 around town depending on traffic etc. On the highway its in the low to mid 20s. Running larger tires will most likely give you a decrease in gas mileage but it shouldn't be too bad so long as you don't hammer the skinny pedal all the time.

if you have the factory alcoa rims then they are only 15x7 with a 4.5" backspacing. If you go to the larger tires they will rub because of the backspacing, you can either do wheelspacers or get a true 15x8 rim with a correct backspacing like 3.75 or so.

how much of a difference did going from stock tires to 33's have on your clutch, did you have to slip alot more to take off ?
i have same gearing and am looking to get new tires, today i was trying to pull a buddy out of some sand with my bald 215/75 All Terrains, couldnt do it, but i was spinning my tires alot, and friction built up and made a lump in my tire that stuck up about an the first layer tore away from itself. anyway yea, my car was boucing like a mofo

My credo
"220, 221, whatever it takes."
32x11.50's will fit with a torsion twist and maybe rub the swaybar a little. A 15x8 rim with 3.75" BS will fit them better. A 33x12.50 won't fit with just a torsion twist and the stock rim is really too narrow and for sure has too much backspace. Now then, a 33x10.50 will fit though.
