I have a 2000 Ranger 4.0L, 5-speed, electric 4 wheel drive. Not sure what my tranny is suppost to be. Is there a better transmission or a kit to make my current tranny better?
Thanks

I would assume you have a manual transmission. If you do, you have the M50D-R1. It is the strongest stock transmission that was offered behind the 4.0.

You can upgrade to a T5, but that requires a lot of custom work. Unless you are running high horsepower or excessively large tires, there is no need.

Better in what way? What about it now makes you want to make it better? The M5OD is a stout SOB if taken care of and should last a long time.

Yes it's a standard 5-speed.
I will upgrade the engine some and just wanted to make sure that the tranny is stout.
I didn't know if there might be a syncro kit or something.
Thanks
