COMPLETED:
I'm calling the banner home.
The goal was to see if we could hand carry the banner from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. The banner would be dipped in both oceans and photographed and signed along its journey.
In 14-months, the banner managed to zig-zag across the U.S. starting at the Atlantic and ending at the Pacific, and even got dipped in to the Gulf of Mexico.
I had asked Sunk to get the banner and ship it back. My only regret was that the banner had passed by Chance's grave site, and I knew Chance would have wanted to be involved, so Sunk volunteered to take it back up there, find Chances gravesite, and get a photo.
I don't believe and other online community has been able to accomplish such an incredible task as this.
From here, I want to encase the banner in a frame that will be free standing and preserve the banner. I'll be able to take it places and put it on display for all to see. I plan to put some photos and information in with it.
I decided to not let the banner free roam from here so that it's preserved with just the signatures of those who had contact with it along its way, since it's that incredible accomplishment we're preserving.
I need to make a list of the members who actually moved it. It would also be cool to have a map showing the actual route it took.
It's definitely been an amazing adventure. I think it would be pretty cool to start a new adventure in the spring of 2012. What kind? I don't know. It would be cool if we had enough members to go around the world. Maybe if anything, since we went across the US from the east coast to the west coast, we could try something like going from Alaska to Key West, Florida. What do you think?
