Want to change out seats, taking suggestions

We bought our 1995 Ranger new and have the bench (seats 3) seat. Problem it's a 5-speed I have never been able to drive because I can't get the seat close enough to depress the clutch all the way.

We'd like change out the bench for a different type of seat ourselves and I'm doing the footwork.

I did see that the 1995 could have manual 60/40 split bench and that bucket seats were optional also.

Tried the Ford site but it keeps referring back to dealerships. Just a quick list of questions I have, maybe someone has some ideas or suggestions on where to find answers.

1) Will the bucket seats work with manual seat set up?
2) Will the 60/40 bench work with the 5-speed?
3) Where do I find the seats?
4) How difficult are they to change?
5) Where do I find a manual or directions on how to change?

Hi; welcome to the site. I'm almost certain you can change out the bench for either of other seating options. I have a '94 with the 60/40, and the 5 speed isn't a problem at all. A good salvage yard is your best bet, and be sure to get the tracks (mounting brackets) with the seats. I've never done this particular swap myself, but somebody here that has will likely chime in.

buckets from a GT...... (escort, exp, Mustang.........) Seats are easy to change ..... they rank about a 1 on the difficulty meter and it is a good first time project. I have never done them on a ranger but my Suburban came with buckets and a center console and I wanted a bench seat. took about 2 hours to change it out and thats because I take my time.

Like Robbie said the 60/40 will work fine with the 5-speed. I'm 5' 7" and I have the seat really far forward with no problems. I also like them because of the center console, but if you want buckets you can go that route too.

In about 4 months, maybe 10 hours of actual work, and thats working slowly, and a few trips to Pick'N'Pull for the seats (from a 1994 Windstar), carpet (From a 1992 Ranger), center console (From a 1992, and 2 1993 Taurus's), overhead unit/rear view mirror (not installed at time of pictrue, and from a 1989 Probe) and then a few trips to Canadian Tire for paint and whatnot. I like how it turned out, and I have no regrets with what I did to it. Theres a few things I'm still working on, but they are only minor. I did that all for about $150 (minus stero, add $150 for the deck, and $550 for speakers, no amps, no subs, nothing else, and its staying that way.) If you need any more information, I'll see if I can help you out (its a 1989 Ranger by the way).

I like the 60/40 split seats, It used to drive me nuts that the drivers side didn't open as far as the passenger, So I removed the little metal bracket between the seat and the seat belt slides and now it moves all the way up to the steering wheel. Anyhow, if you go with 60/40 I recomend the mod.

I got a pair of 2006 Ranger bucket seats and swapped them into my 93. they bolted in perfectly. i swapped the seat belts from the old seats to the new ones. it turned out great. i bought the seats for $300cdn and sold my old 60/40 bench for $120cdn. it is the best interior modification i have made. i will post some pics soon.

maybe seat like the ones in my Town and Country ......... nice firm comfy seats with support in all the right places........... not wild about the 8 way power but I recently drove to virginia with out back pain...........

How well do those GT buckets work if you're a 6-footer? Probably can't lean the seat back too far in a standard cab. I'm considering some kind of swap that would be more for comfort. It doesn't necessarily have to be buckets. My back is kinda screwed up.

I would buy on Ebay/Junk Yark 2005/2006 Ranger seats 60/40. They provide more support for the lower back.

Make sure you buy the seats that are square at the top, not round/oval shaped.
