Wanted: 98' 3.0L Engine...

My truck has close to 300,000 miles on the engine and it still runs good, but I want to see if anyone is selling a 3.0L that would fit into my 98' 2WD. Anything that's cheap and in good shape I would probably take. I really want something I can rebuild, clean up and plug and play it into the truck. head to a JY and have them pull one, see if you can get them to keep all the wiring intact rather than chopping it like always. Then rebuild it and have it at the ready. Word of caution, if the engine is gonna sit, make sure it gets coated pretty good interally with oil. My brother had his 350 small rebuilt for his Nova restoration, and it sat for a while. Needs a rebuild all over again.

JY, look for a low mileage Taurus with a Vulcan 3.0, change the head gaskets to RWD, use your intake & accessories & your in business.

My friend has recently removed a Vulcan 3.0L engine out of a 1999 Mercury Sable GS. The engine has a little over 100,000 miles on it and is in good condition.

He got the car from a neighbor who had passed away. Engine was in running condition.

I found an 07 Taurus with less than 20K documented miles on it complete, $250 with an 6 month warranty on it. I would seriously call around, bigger yards have Taurus's out the rear.
