You needa manual transfer case to begin with I believe. To be swapped in I mean. If its notin the tech library on the homepage, its prolly not doable. not very easily anyways.

i think feelnfroggy is right, youll need a manual t case to start with because your current tcase uses a solenoid to engage and disengage itself. unless you could make a lever and linkage setup that would allow you to do the same thing i dont think its going to happen. feel free to correct me if im wrong, most of my ranger tech pertains to 2wd, but im slowly learning the 4x4 stuff as my brothers stx sees fit.

you need a manual tcase with shift linkage and you will need an older style dual carbon front drive shaft. everything else will bolt right in. i have done this swap myself in my 94

You need:
A manual Tcase
Linkage
Shifter
Floor Plate
Boot
If your wanting the little lights to light up, you may need the wiring harness, idk
Also, I'm not sure if your Tranny will have the required threaded holes for the shifter linkage...:dunno:

Items needed:

Check your current transmission trailhousing to see if you've got the threaded bungs on the driverside for the linkage to bolt to.

Get yourself a manual transfer case(Borg Warner 1354M)

Get the linkage for it(should have the ball on it)

You don't need a floor plate/inspection cover, you can just cut up your stocker for the shifter to poke through.

Bolt it all up. VERY easy swap. Don't forget to cut a hole in the floor and rob some parts off a truck with a manual tcase from the junkyard to make the interior look 'right' and not a hack job.

Damn...black beat me to it. lol.

okay.... thats a mute point...

Rear shaft is A-OKAY! Odds are you'll get a 97 and older Tcase, so make sure to grab the front shaft off a 95-97 Explorer. It'll bolt right up to your new tcase and your front axle and won't need shortening or lengthening...it'll botl right up.
