I think that chart might be a little old. I work in tech support and the number of people who call in is about the same between XP and Vista.

Sorry, the "not enough out there" argument doesn't fly. There are millions more sold every month.

Since most viruses are written merely to cause mayhem, and not for $$$ gain, why would any virus writer bent on destruction want to attack those smug, cocky, virus free Mac users? sarcasm. Virus writers are like thieves. They go for what's easy.

The hacker who wrote the virus that caused widespread havoc in the Mac world would be a deity to other hackers.

And yes, Macs can be hacked. They are simply a machine. But they are more difficult to hack because of Unix underpinnings. Since the root account is disabled by default and it takes a particular order of steps to enable it, the widespread self-replicating viruses that attack Windows machines have yet to materialize in the wild.

As far as not worth the hassle, if they are out for money the Mac base is where that's at.

The Mac vs PC argument will never end, but this line of reasoning doesn't work anymore.

i got my widows 7 laptop a few weeks ago and its great. one thing tho. when i first got it i could click the internet explorer link on the toolbar once to open a page, then again to open another, etc.etc. now, when i click the link a second time it simply minimizes. then if i click it again it brings it up again. dunno what changed but i cant find out how to fix it.
also, i dislike macs cause they limit your abilities as a user. pc`s give you more control. its like the old auto vs standard arguement. niether one is really better...

That's the way it's supposed to be, so there's nothing to "fix." If you want to load multiple IE pages you should start using the "tabs" feature.

Right click on the taskbar, then go to Properties. At the 'Taskbar Buttons' drop down, what option is selected? If you have it set to 'Always combine, hide labels', it will behave the way yours is currently. Try 'Never combine'.

Windows 7 is much better than Windows Vista. 7 is so resource friendly that it can run well on a 1GHz, 1GB system with a 16GB SSD. Even XP can't do that. I'm running Ubuntu Linux on my netbook because XP was too slow. I'll load 7 on it when I get a chance. Need to remove the bloat from the install so the SSD doesn't get filled up.

The Mac/PC/Linux debate is a foolish one. For the most part it comes down to personal preference, and the specific tasks the user wants to accomplish. There are strengths and weaknesses to each OS, and overall they're ALL pretty solid. I have used all of them extensively.

Just be glad we're past the Windows 9x years.
