wont stay in reverse 80% of the time without me holding it!

hey guys, i have a 93 4x4 with 3.0 its got a 5 speed (not sure which one ?) but when i put it in reverse it will move fine for about 8 feet then pop out of reverse. ??? i know it needs a slave cylinder because it started leaking badly but i was just wanting to make sure thats what it is. . it will lose every bit of fluid in less than 2 hrs but even with it full it wont hold reverse? any help would be appreciated.

I don't see how it could possibly be a problem with the slave cylinder. I think there is an internal problem in the transmission. Could be in the shifter mechanism built into the top cover. Do you have any problem with 5th gear? Because 5th and reverse share the same shifter mechanism.

syncro... my old camaro did the same thing... and if i held it in reverse long enough and accelerated fast enought it would start to grind...

ok now my question is how much would a snycro cost to fix? would i be better off getting a new trans? it didnt start doing this until the slave shit itself......dang i just ordered a slave and clutch kit and dont want to have to pull the trans again because of this. could i just drive it like this. would could be the potential problems i could run into. so far i have no grinding just pops out randomly.
