Can someone school me in the differences of these two cams? I understand one is 112 & the other is 114. The 114 shows a few hundred rpm lower power band. It also look like quite a bit less lift. Real world on a gt40 setup is one better than the other?

Truck engines tend to use cams that deliver higher torque at lower RPMs because they are expected to haul heavier loads
Car engines use cams for higher horsepower which have best torque at higher RPMs
So its a trade off

You build your engine for your use

Torque gets you up to speed
Horsepower holds you at that speed

Yes that I understand. Both are low end cams, just not sure which is the better for my application I guess?

Not knowing your application, we don't know.

Daily driver, usually no load or trailer pulling, use the one with higher RPM power band.

Daily driver, always loaded or pulling a trailer, use the one with the lower RPM power band

This little guy. 01 with the engine & drivetrain out of a 96 explorer. K&N drop in, torque monster headers, 2.5 duals no cats, x pipe & borla mufflers, 5 star tune, 4r70w with shift kit, explorer rear end with 3.73’s. Rear tires are 275/40r 17. No towing or anything. It’s a driver/trash truck. I have some springs on order from Alex parts. Not looking for a race truck but wouldn’t mind some more power.

5.0... little truck.... id pick the bigger of the two. It'll still have enough down low to get it up to speed

Hey, as long as you don't end up with the totally wrong cam and discover it after the engine is in the truck (TWICE), it's all good!

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
Those would both work, I'd probably pick the one with 206/212 duration because it's under .500" lift at the valve but I'd install the bigger one if I already owned it. Comp used to have a cam picking tool on their site along with tech advisors you could call.

Why would you pick the one with less lift? Just to be easier on the valve train?
