I read that on another forum and wanted to post it here but I couldn't remember where I read it. Thanks for posting it, hopefully some manufactures catch on to it and improve and mass produce. There's a lot of pro's to it as well. Pretty much elemenates emmissions, waste, and you can gain hp and mpg.

My credo
Yeah... still here.
I bet the guy who engineers it suddenly "disappears" one day. I think they had mention of something like this in Hot Rod magazine not too long ago. Someone they met on Power Tour brought a car like this. They said it ran fine but made them hungry for french fries.

and its also nice because you are using a wasted byproduct that would just be burnt elsewhere into the air.

I have my doubts about the race...not that the impala isn't fast but I bet it was a set up by MTV...

It doesn't suprise me that the impala won. Lambos are not 1/4 miles car they have good top speed and corner good. They are not that fast off the line, So a 400 hp impala with the right gearing would kick its ass easily in the 1/4 mile.

I don't doubt that it could have been set up, or maybe the driver of the Lambo jsut sucked THAT badly...

But the thing with biodiesel is the PM-10 and PM-2.5 emissions...engineers are trying to decrease the amount of particulate matter with feedstock like Soybean (leading American product) expelled by that type of biodisel. Sunflowerseed oil has lower NOx emissions as well...the bidiesel is not that far-fetched. We're making biodisel in class and burning it to find the heating capacity and it's energy that can be released...and the biodiesel is usually run on a blend like B20 or something...on another note, the vegetable oil from restaurants is completely true as well. You have to filter out impurities and reduce the viscosity of the veggie oil by heating it up with some sort of element, like copper. Filters, whatnot. Blah blah...

It's not bullshit. I'm currently looking for a 1997 or older F-250 Powerstroke disel to convert...

They make like the whole tank/ processing set up for people to buy. You can go get the grease from places for free, or litle money, go home process it, clean it up with some chemicals and when its all done put it in your diesel with little modifications.

They did this on mythbusters. They took a deisel car. Filter some oil from a fast food joint and dumped it in the tank and drove away. No modifications or anything. Just filtered the oil and that was it. It got like 15% less mpg then deisel but it was a much cleaner burning fuel.
