So I'm taking apart cap now looks pretty good and crank looks good, bearings defiantly getting worn they look original (ford emblem on them) My question is bearings that i got have a slot that's not on original? Is this a problem?
Red is original and blue is new bearing. Also another question how do i get both bearings off without removing crank?

it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
lube and push bearing with plastic spatch to get moving. then fit new upper and use pic to rotate around.

I used to use a short length of a nail. Cut the nail short, and then bend the head so it would be at an angle. Insert nail into lube hole in the crankshaft, turn the crankshaft and the nail will push the insert around.
If you get all the main caps loose, things will be easier to move.
The extra cut in the new bearing insert should have no effect. The old insert shown does not look too bad, but is worn to some degree.

i used alum rivet or soft cotter key to roll them before... to scared to use a nail.

Thanks guys for replies! I went ahead and yank crank off im to rough around the egdes to try the nail idea i would have sliced and diced that crank lmao! Here is some more pics I looks at other bearings and it is defiantly time for some new ones, I have to go get the connecting rod bearings aswell.

I have seen a lot worse bearing inserts than these.

When you get the new ones installed, be sure to lube them, and check that the crankshaft rotates easily and smoothly after you torque down the main caps. If not, something is wrong in the clearance or installation.(or inserts)
Be careful when installing the rear main, especially if one-piece. There's a garter spring that can pop out of place if it is whacked too hard.

Thanks Tom will get this done this weekend. I have a question since Im in this deep should i go ahead and install new pistons and rings?
