if you use seafoam in the oil or thru the brake booster line you should change the oil within a couple of hundred miles. The only check valve i am aware of is in the fuel system. you should change the fuel filter then add seafoam or techron. if it is still there you should change the plugs. do you know what plugs are in there and how long they have been therei read in another article that the guys similar issue went away when he dumped seafoam into the oil somthing about a check valve causes confusion in the truck thus throwing a trouble light. my truck has the exact same issues that you explained and im gunna give it a try
