Hello! I'm a new Ford Ranger and looking to learn about doing light maintenance on my truck. I was trying to install license plate lights and came across this. Does anyone know what this is? The other side was a pretty simple plug-and-play.

Welcome to TRS :)

Wire colors are a good way to ID what something is for
Looks like a Black/yellow wire maybe black/white, which is probably a Ground wire
What is the other wire's color or colors?

Pretty obvious the exterior of the connector has broken off so the internal pins are all that's left

TY!

Looks like the black wire is black with a yellow or maybe neon green stripe. The white wire is either solid gray or white but looking gray with age.

In 2011 Ford used a grey wire for all "Park" lights, front and back, includes license plate lights
And a Black/yellow wire for Park light grounds(well most exterior lighting grounds)

So test Grey wire for 12volts with park lights on and then off, use the Black/yellow as the ground for at least one test
If Grey wire has 12v Park lights on and 0v Park lights off then be sure to tape it off for now so it can't short out

This is very helpful information. Thank you!
