lost clutch fluid too

I've got an 88 Ranger and mine lost clutch fluid too during last weeks VERY cold snap. Couldn't find where it went but when the temp got up to 40 it stopped and has been fine since.....But now I seem to be losing transmission fluid out the shifter. Ther are (or were) two black plastic cups enclosing the pivot ball. The bottom one is fragments. Also the rubber seal around the shift lever has torn. Any ideas about these small parts?

Brake fluid absorbs water. Maybe the water is freezing and causing the leak. That is one reason it should be changed. Open your bleader valve and let it gravity bleed. Do not touch the pedal. Keep filling the reservoir

You will need new parts for the shifter. Try rockauto.com

wen i did mine they were all after market parts. can remember from were tho. i finally got a chance to check it out good and noticed that the fluid has turned black so i swapped it using a turkey baster to suck it from the reservoir then added new and repeat till it was clean. got my dad to pump it and its turning black again. wen i check underneath it seems to be leaking were the hose connects to the slave so i think it is the o ring. do i need a special tool to get that line off?

to remove the line you need a "special" tool that allows you to press the white plastic collar inward, towards the slave cylinder, which opens these little metal fingers and allows the line to be pulled out. the tool for this can be purchased or made (make sure you use a heavy enough gauge of steel to resist bending)
