They had factory tachs starting in 80 i believe...as an option

Wonder if hed trade a 97 3/4 ton with a 460 lol
I knew a tach was a option, Ive just never seen a truck of that series with one (besides a diesel)
Id trade my allis tractor- but Id need that 3/4 to tow it with- and the allis is a bit much for my trailer.

I think its strange that truck has a tach...it seems like a pretty base model. Ive seen them on gassers but mostly XLT's or lariats with 460's and 351's

Two problems I see.
-one gas tank.
-4wd.

Fix those two things and I would slobber a knob for it
At this vintage you are lucky to find anything that isn’t a pile of dust lately.

i have never seen a tach in any obs ford truck. i guess the person who bought it new didn't know how to drive a stick? i don't think i had a tach in a car till.... i cannot remember. nothing used to have tachs that i had and then suddenly tachs were in everything and i never noticed their sneakiness.

now, even my automatics have tachs. what the heck

Well there have to be some OBS tachs out there... Ford even decided to put it front and center in the cluster.

Factory tachs were available from 80-96/7. Oddly enough they seem to be most common on 87-91's.

Ive *heard* certain 78/79's had factory (installed) tachs, basically a sunpro style attached to the steering column, branded motorcraft. Ive never personally seen one.
