What distributor is best to run with the offenhauser 4bbl manifold running a 300cfm carb?

Also there is a NOS one for sale on eBay right now.

I paid $750 for one a couple months ago on EBay…the last few I saw that were in stock at Summit went for 1350.00….these 2.8 parts are getting hard to come by….I just don’t want to do the typical motor swap

So we're clear, are you saying this is not your manifold for sale despite you and it both being in San Antonio?

Yeah not mine, I bought mine a few months ago and it was a newer production but I could see how that may be suspicious. I was just hoping to see what distributors you all were running with these. I’m hunting for a Mallory but they also are no longer produced for the 2.8.

My 84 was converted to Offy, Holley 390 double pumper, and Duraspark II back in the 80s. It ran a "factory" duraspark distributor (probably reman unit) until I totaled the truck in 2009.

IIRC the ignition components dad used were from a 76 or 79 Pinto with the 2.8L V6.

If I were to find a new home for the engine I'd use the same distributor, but probably update the ignition system. Duraspark was a lot better than the factory system, but they were always prone to heat issues when they got a little age, and the new production units aren't as good as those were. The Durasparkdistributor can be wired to work with HEI, MSD and other ignitions.
